When Buffy moved behind the pillar, Wanda skipped backward and took cover behind some thick drapes, her back against the windows. It wasn't the best hiding place, but it was the best she could do on short notice. She was at least out of sight when the light came on, peering through the tiny gap in the curtains.
Then it all happened, so quickly, the fist through the pillar so unexpected to Wanda, and suddenly she wasn't looking at a group of aliens, but a group of alien vampires, growling like beasts. Wanda snapped a quick bolt of red energy through the curtains at the one nearest to her before it could jump Buffy. It was less effective against the vampire than she expected, barely rocking it -- vampires must be sturdier than robots -- but it did distract the vampire, which left her with an angry vampire rushing her instead.
Wanda pulled the curtains down in its path to tangle it up and gain time, using her powers to make the fabric into a writhing trap. It gained her a few seconds, long enough to dash for a safer corner from which to launch her bolts. One without glass at her back, she didn't like that.
As she passed the first alien, she saw that it was sitting up and she whirled a fancy vase from a sideboard at its head in passing. And then realized that it hadn't been growling.
"Buffy, is the green one --?" she called. It was an enemy, that much was clear, but-- "Is it one of them too?"
