Buffy didn't technically relax once they had landed; she rarely did when on a patrol so why would this be different, but Wanda taking out the possible alarm was a welcome relief. Buffy really needed to remember just how different the universe was now. It was easy to slip into the assumption that no one would protect a balcony on a cliff-side building back home, considering the effort it would have taken to get in. But with flying cars, jetpacks, and maybe even natural fliers, her way of thinking needed to adjust and fast.
She held up a hand to signal for them to pause. Buffy needed to take in her surroundings and get a feel of what lay beyond the doors of this particular balcony. The doors were clear and she could see a little bit inside the room thanks to the moonlight. It looked like a lavish sitting room, with the sofas facing away from the balcony, but otherwise it appeared empty. She bit down on her lower lip and with a slight shrug, grabbed the door handles and tried the doors. Unsurprisingly they didn't open so Buffy put a little strength into turning the handles. They snapped under the pressure, destroying the simple lock with it but allowed her to swing open the doors.
Then it hit her. The doors had been locked, simply no less, but they had been sealing the room, because that old familiar smell of death and decay filled the air. That was definitely not a good sign and Buffy pulled her scythe out as she walked around the small but decorative looking dining table that sat closest to the doors. She could hear quiet thumps filtering around, but whoever was causing them were pretty far away in comparison.
Buffy glanced over at Wanda to see if she was following before looking around the room again. As soon as she stepped closer to one of the sofas, the smell grew stronger and she knew what she was about to find. Strewn about on the couch was humanoid shape. They weren't human, in fact Buffy didn't recognize what kind of alien they were, but they were still very much dead. They're flesh was sunken in to such a degree it looked as though someone had sucked the air out of a balloon. That wasn't exactly normal, even for a vampire, at least not her kind. But as Buffy began to investigate the body, she could see the many bite marks all over. They didn't seem to be an assortment over time and that really got her attention. "It looks like they had a mass feeding," she whispered as soon as Wanda was in earshot. "Like cracking open a keg at a frat party."
