"I could use some victory...dome repair kits," Wanda said, wryly. It wasn't quite the same category as victory shoes, was it? She eyed Buffy, trying to imagine this "Bronze", and decided to tell the story about dodging snipers to get to the underground concert that was supposed to turn into a "spontaneous" riot another time. Maybe while they celebrated; it was, oddly enough, despite the setting, a funny story in the mode of a comedy of errors.
As Buffy finished speaking, the bus pulled up, so Wanda just nodded, added a few words of agreement -- relieved and glad that Buffy's priorities matched her own.
On the bus, Wanda fell silent, watching the city go by and fingering the pair of stakes that she'd prepared before coming to Tenebris. She imagined using them, knowing that in cases like this imagination was futile. She glanced at Buffy's scythe next, trying to imagine that in use. The end of the handle was actually a stake, she realized with a sudden start.
As the cliffs approached, she leaned forward, identifying the casino and tracing out the boundaries of its staircases up and down. Her mind turned over each tiny indication of residency inside, trying to work it all into...a plan.
But she was not the experienced one here. Not the one in charge of plans, she reminded herself. Her job was to follow Buffy's lead, and not plan like she would be doing if... Not plan in advance of knowing the situation. If she came up with too many ideas in advance, she'd be slow to react if her expectations weren't fulfilled. She settled back again, and concentrated on readying herself, going over what she did know and twitching her powers into smooth order, so that it felt like she had a glow beneath her skin, just waiting for her need. And she knew she was going to need them.
As the bus turned down the final street, a straight run for the casino, Wanda judged that there was time for one question, though. She shook herself and turned to Buffy.
"Do you want to start at the top? I can get us up there without using the stairs," she said. Not that she was the only thing that could levitate in this city, but she thought she was a bit more unobtrusive than some of the floater vehicles.
