Her prey was fast as he rushed between the busy pedestrians before darting into an alleyway. It was a surprisingly dark one, with a lone neon light flickering as it struggled to stay alive among its nearly darkened brethren on the sign it belonged to. Unfortunately, the only door to escape through was of a metal or alloy too strong for him to open, which said a lot considering his strength. He turned, prepared to leave the way he came, but he found his path blocked by a petite five foot four figure.
"Wow, couldn't even last one day here before racking up a body count," Buffy said with a shake of her head, her Slayer scythe in one hand and leaning against her shoulder. "That's pretty pathetic."
"Hey, she's still alive!" The vampire insisted. His eyes darted around, the bravado from earlier in the night when he was looking for dinner was now long gone. "Come on, Slayer. New planet, new rules, right? No reason to get stake happy on us."
Buffy shook her head, but at she did notice that the vampire recognized her. Good to know. "That poor girl is only alive because I showed up and we both know it." Her eyes narrowed as the vamp's human looking face morphed into the familiar vampire visage she knew well from back home. "Let's get this over with, because I'm not about to let you start turning this place into another Sunnydale buffet."
The vampire ran forward and jumped, and for a moment Buffy expected him to try to make an escape, but instead he growled as he directed himself toward her. His fangs bared and his hands reached for her throat, but she sidestepped it easily enough and with a swift movement swung her scythe upward. There was barely a swish before the vampire's dust and ashes were falling to the ground and she found herself just staring at the remains with a frown. The vampire she had stumbled on tonight had actually been an accident and she hadn't been wrong about that girl he had been feeding on. She was nearly drained dry when Buffy had alerted the vampire to her presence. Luckily there had been just enough commotion for another local to get her help while Buffy went after the vampire. Best of all, the vampire had the familiar game face of those back home, making it something familiar and something she could handle easily. Buffy had actually been starting to question her slayer senses since her arrival, which put her at a disadvantage with her new situation. Where she was use to getting a sense of where anything demonic was back home, it was harder to decipher here. She felt... off. Too many things kept her on guard and set off her senses despite the sunnyish disposition she wore for the holo-net. Aliens really shouldn't have been trigging her senses the way they did and it was disconcerting. She was starting to think it was more than just being dropped here causing it, but Buffy couldn't figure out what it actually was. Heck, she couldn't even really explain it to herself let alone anyone else if they asked.
She shook her head and kicked at the remains on the ground, as she placed her scythe back in the sheath she had made in the coat she wore. As she did so, another thought sprang to mind. He had mentioned 'us', so either he had a nest of some kind or he was just referring to all resident vamps and demons in general. It also implied he hadn’t been as much of a newb to the area as she originally thought. While, yes, she was going to hunt when she needed to, she wasn't about to just go on a witch hunt on ever supernatural person that existed. In fact, this had actually been the first time she'd done anything remotely slayer-like since she'd got here. With a sigh, Buffy turned around and made her exit from the alley. She figured she may as well go and do a patrol of the area, just in case.
