Not telling Clarke what he was going to be doing flew in the face of what he was used to. Normally, he would keep her in the loop because, after all, they had been co-leaders together. At one time, anyway. That relationship was just strained enough, though, that Bellamy could see the merits of not telling her. He hadn't been able to trust her not to leave back home, after all. Once he knew more, once he was better trained, then he could tell her. He couldn't put them at risk until he knew he could protect them. He couldn't trust her to approve anyway, and Bellamy had been making his own decisions for months without her. This was the right thing to do.
Glasya took a step closer and Bellamy regarded him. Back home, Kane had been mentoring him and it was something Bellamy hadn't known he'd wanted - the idea of someone helping him and giving him advice, teaching him how to be better. Bellamy took the idea of taking care of his people seriously and to have someone tell him he was making the right decisions and to better advise him on how to keep doing it... it was more important than he ever thought something like that could be. To find something similar here was surprisingly meaningful to him. "I'm ready," he said with conviction. "The sooner, the better." When Bellamy did something, he was all in right from the start and he didn't give himself any time to second guess decisions.
