Jeri shifted, groaning, trying to stop her keys from digging into her side. She didn't want to wake up, it didn't feel like it was time for that, but for some reason it was a little cold in her friend Meg's house, and her couch was considerably less comfortable than it had seemed the night before. It was amazing how she could overlook uncomfortable surroundings when she was upset. Now though, as dawn apparently seeped into her un-curtained windows, and the fight with her fiancé James was already 6 hours old, comfort seemed much more important.
She moved her hand down searchingly over her sweatshirt while rubbing her bare feet together for warmth, and realized something odd. The thing in her side wasn't her keys. It was something hard and cold jabbing into her from the couch. Wearily she pried one eye open, glancing down through the shallow slit. What she saw was not a couch, or Meg's apartment. What was jabbing her in the side was a rock...in a field...in the open. She closed her eyes, forcefully squeezing them shut and then opened them both, only to be confronted by the same image, this time noting everything seemed...was that, purple? She closed her eyes again, this time longer, her muscles tensing as adrenaline started to kick in. This was a dream. A weird, screwed up, crazy dream, and now she just had to wake up. She opened her eyes again and nothing had changed. Her brow furrowed in confusion. What on earth was going on? This had to be a dream. "Wake up." She said, pinching herself, actually surprised when she felt a surge of pain. "Wake up." She commanded more forcefully, sitting up now. Nothing happened, nothing changed. She looked around again, bewildered. What was going on? "Hello?" She called out, not knowing what else to do. "Meg? Meg are you here? Is anyone here?" She added, a little louder.
