No one had made a serious effort to sleep with him, or even close by, except for that one night with Thorne when he had first arrived. Alex appreciated that. He was still keeping his vows to the best of his ability, other planet or not. There had been a few polite hints, but he had intentionally ignored them and they too hadn't pressed the issue. It did seem like everyone was pairing up though, if not for relationships, then simply for body heat. He refused and simply huddled in his blanket in his lean-to. It was fairly small, but that was okay, it suited his few needs.
"That's all anyone can do anyways," Alex agreed, "Work hard and hope for the best. What's that cliche? Something about preparation in the face of difficulties. Whatever. The point is, we're doing the best we can with what we have."
