Kenneth looked out at the plains and nodded, "Yeah, does look like the right kind of terrain. We're actually on an island in the middle of a river. When most of us arrived we were at a place in the forests to the west of here, but we had trouble with a local predator we call Laughers. Kind of like a large tri-pedal black panther, but intelligent. We had to be in the trees from duck to dawn to avoid being eaten."
Coop still looked a bit shaky and Kenneth hesitated before offering her a steadying arm over a couple of rocks. After all, she was barefoot, but he often found younger women were leery of chilvalrous acts in a man, especially an older man. "Here we're save, they can't swim. Although we do share the island at night with a large herd of some weird girrafe, horse, cow cross that we call Grazers. They're perfectly tame and provide a great meat source."
