"Hi." Dawns voice matched her mood as she hunched in her seat, suddenly nervous. It'd been a year since she'd seen Sam. They exchanged emails sometimes, when she snagged a computer in the local library but they were brief. Just a 'so you know we're alive' email that was quick and to the point.
Dean and their father didn't know about them. Really, it was more for Dawn, because though she wouldn't admit it, Sam had been her whole world. When they were younger, she'd do everything in her power to gain his approval. Even if it meant facing an angry, terrifying dog or bullies who wouldn't leave him alone. Unfortunately, that usually ended up with Dean getting in trouble for his usual violent antics.
She glowered past Sam, towards the end of the street as the impala gave an obnoxious roar and headed off into the distance. When it was out of sight, Dawn stood, lips pressed together in a soft frown. She found herself bouncing awkwardly as she shifted her weight from feet to feet as Sam towered over her. She was taller than Dean, but Sam still managed to be the tallest of the three which used to be more than a little annoying when Dean would tease her about it.
"So..." She wasn't sure what she was going to say and her voice ended up trailing off. She cleared her throat but remained silent. She didn't know what to say to him without yelling at him. Emails were so much easier
