It's been almost 2 months since I've been here, and some ways it feels like I just got here, but in most ways, I've settled in. I've resigned myself that whatever version of me this is, I might never see more of my friends and family. It's still hard, but I'm coming to terms with it.
Filtered to Women (and those that identify as women) Refugees
Hello everyone. If you don't know me, I'm Veronica Mars.
I'm here to talk about a group that I'm forming. If you've seen my source material you'll know this already, but if not, I was a victim of a sexual crime. I think many women here have been, in various forms, whether they reported it or not. Statistics show that 1 out of every 5 women have been raped or have had someone attempt to do so, 1 in 4 have been assaulted while in a domestic partnership, and 1 in 6 have been stalked.
These are hard things to deal with, and while we're here, we probably don't have access to mental health facilities to really adequately deal with all our needs. But we DO have each other. There is solidarity in a group setting, and knowing you are not alone.
So, to that end, I am starting a Women's Support Group. Any woman, or anyone who identifies with that label, is welcome to attend. This is a Safe Space for discussion-no one in this group is obligated to report anything (provided you are over the age of 18). The space can be for whatever support you may need, it need not be sexual based at all. If you would be interested in joining me, leave me a note, and it can be filtered or anonymous if you wish. I'm trying to see how many would be interested in this group so that I can find space to accommodate everyone.
Let me know if you have questions, but remember-you aren't alone.

I put it out there about the group. Step one. Then I can start getting things together for the other Refugee Support services and advocacy that we want to do. One step at a time.
And I love you. Wow. That's oddly nice to say.
