Shawn spent the first week there sequestered in his room. There was no real coping with what he went through before arriving; he knew the numbness he felt was in order to keep his sanity. It was a shock to be here and it was deja vu all over again. There was a group of extraordinary people forced into this life by an unknown force. The government was keeping close watch over them. The citizens were terrified. Same story, different universe.
Shawn was held hostage by the fear of his experience, and he let that last a good five days before he saw threats on the network. Which meant trouble and potential injuries. It made him sick to think of using his powers again, but his natural need to help won over that. So he reached out to the doctors and met Anders. He was relieved to find that a few of the doctors at least understood why he was hesitant to come out. It was difficult to decide how they would use his powers without causing a riot, but Shawn was reassured that someone understood at least.
For now they were reserving his skills to the other people in the Tower or finding ways to downplay his healing for the ill coming in. Shawn wished he could do more, and so when Anders told him about Laura, he was glad to reach out. Shawn seemed like nothing special at first glance. He was average in most ways and easy to overlook. "Ms. Roslin?" He offered her a hand to shake when he got to the clinic.
