I wish to thank those who have sent their condolences for my father's death. He was a great man. A good king, and he will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

	I would not have had it happen to you either but from what I have seen, you are a fine man and will lead your people well. I was young, barely one hundred, when I had to take the throne and had to learn much very quickly. I was lucky to have Balin at my side, for he had been an advisor to my grandfather. Then if I may offer some advice, king to king, listen to them. Trust your own judgement but listen to what they have to say. Sometimes they're right, even when you don't much like it. Dwarves, on average, live to around 200 years but the Longbeards, of whom I am one, live even longer lives, often to around 250-300 years. My youngest nephew was 77 when we began the quest and there was much discussion between his mother and I about whether he was old enough to come on such a journey.
