Everyone needs to have someone sign off saying "this person died in this way", to ensure that murders don't slip through the cracks; most people dying of illnesses or old age have a doctor who does that. I get the unidentified people or the bodies that get found because they've been dumped somewhere or the accidental deaths, because in those cases it's not as cut and dried as "the person with cancer died because they had cancer".
I'd like to say everyone matters as much as everyone else, but sadly that's still not the case. I do my job regardless of someone's social status, but the intensity of the ensuing investigation can vary depending on all sorts of things.
