I was watching TV and a commercial for a tv series came on, imagine my surprise to see Mary Margaret and Emma.

I know I was told I was fictional, but this is so weird. I did some digging, and found out that my character isn't even on the show anymore, so that's fun. It seems I missed a lot from my point of view, I might have to look into it. At least to make sure that my friends are all right. Because Emma being the Dark One makes absolute no sense

Are there any good camping grounds nearby? I thought I'd go out this weekend, but I'm not familiar with the area.

It depends on what kind of camping ground you're looking for. I know of a few but they're more on the remote side. And some are completely off the trail.

Remote and off the trail sounds prett good to me. I like being off on my own.

I can relate. Especially on a weekend like this. I'm Adam by the way.

Nice to meet you Ruby.

So is the reason you want remote and off the trail due to the full moon coming up?

Astronomy is fascinating. For me it's because I'm a werewolf.

I'm pulling your leg.

I'm a werewolf too.

Good to know.

Always happy to meet another wolf.

Likewise. I haven't met many and most of them are deadbut I wasn't sure what to expect here. It's probably already well known, given that I've been here before, but I'm not used to talking about it openly with strangers.

I'm curious, when you turn, are you in control?

There really aren't too many here from what I've seen. I'm fairly use to it as back home werewolves came out to the public.

I am. For me, my kind of wolf, it's always there prowling below the surface. One slip of control and the wolf takes hold and people could get hurt. Hence I'm a bit of a control freak. As my wife and mate would say, it's even worse given I'm an Alpha. But I'm also able to turn at will whether there's a full or not. It's just on the full I have no choice but to turn. The moon's call is far too strong to resist.

The ones I met mainly stuck to their pack.

Ah. For my kind, it's a little different. For starters, I was never bitten or scratched, I was born with it, as was my mother. I think my great-grandfather was bitten, and my grandmother scratched, but not for my mother and I.

We aren't in control, not at first, it's something you either learn for yourself or someone else teaches you. For me, it was the latter.

Back home most of the European wolves stuck to their packs. As for the North American packs, we all have our own but we've an Alpha of Alphas who runs things to keep all the wolves safe.

There's only been one werewolf birth known back home and the cost was the woman's life. My change is, essentially, violent. And becoming a wolf isn't easy. You have to be, for lack of a prettier word, savaged by a werewolf then survive your first full moon. A simple nip or scratch isn't enough for the magic to overcome the immune system.

It's the same here. But for us, if you're unable to control the wolf it takes over and you more or less become a full on monster that has to be put down. So those that can't control their wolves are put down for the safety of the pack and public.

I've only met one pack in my life. They helped me control myself, but there was a falling out.

It isn't as bad for me. It's not comfortable, but it's not incredibly painful either.

Likewise, well minus the put down part. I mean I'm sure some wolves had been hunted down by villagers in the past. If they can't control themselves, they're dangerous.

I'm sorry to hear that. Pack is important.

Makes me jealous of my wife. She's a shifter so all she has to do is just change from one form to another.

Exactly.

I'm sure they are. I never really felt like I was missing out. I have my friends and family, they're completely supportive and we take care of each other.

That is lucky.

Pack doesn't have to be wolves. I was turned with a fellow Army Ranger. He doesn't have pack like I do but has other men he runs with.

I'm jealous on fulls too.

I'll admit though, not having my pack here and being Alpha can be a bit taxing. I miss the bonds and knowing that they're okay.

I've gotten as use to it as one can. Given I've been a werewolf since Vietnam.

I meant to ask, is your kind of werewolf essentially immortal unless you're killed?

I'm sorry, that must be difficult. Is your wife here at least?

Wow. That's insane.

No. We age normally, and eventually our old age makes it so we wont turn anymore. I'm not entirely sure when that happens, but my Gran no longer turns.

What about when it's not a full moon? Can you change without it?

She is. And even though she's not a werewolf with the kind of shifter she is we were able to bond.

My kind, unless killed, is essentially immortal though the down side we can become, age sick. Being alive for so long takes a toll especially when you lose friends and loved ones.

I can. It's harder, especially when the moon is waning or it's a new moon. But when it's waxing and full it's easier.
