Oliver had no idea how this was supposed to go. Chloe had been gone nearly two weeks and he'd spent most of it avoiding everyone and everything he knew. He went to work, he had no choice in that, but at night he suited up and prowled around the city tracking down muggers or anyone else who seemed to be doing something that could be classified as nefarious. Oliver half expected to find himself on the news but in a city where Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man were the norm, a random vigilante with a bow and arrow wasn't a big deal. He also spent his share of time brooding on rooftops, something which did bring a smile to his face as he remembered Chloe teasing him about doing just that. Chloe. She was back but as he'd been told would happen, she had no memories of him or their life together. He loved her still, you don't fall out of love in two weeks after all, but he wasn't going to tell her that. Things could very well work out in a completely different fashion this time around, a fact which Oliver kept trying to put out of his mind. Right now though he was just trying to figure out how he was going to face her without grabbing her and holding her tight. That would be the wrong thing to do, she'd probably hit him and he couldn't blame her because after all to this Chloe he was just some guy who happened to have the same name as someone she knew back home. He'd gotten the boxes that he'd put her things in out of the closet and brought them into the living room. The morning after she'd left, he'd blindly put them away and hadn't even really noticed what was there. At least he'd gotten most of the things he thought Chloe would consider important before someone from SWORD had come by. Oliver had assured them that he'd keep the things safe and if Chloe didn't return in a few weeke, he'd bring them in so they could store them. Not that he had any intention of doing that. As luck would have it, she was back and now she was knocking at the door and Oliver took a deep breath and went to answer it. "Hi," he said simply when he opened it. "Come on in." |
