Hill hadn’t actually gotten much rest the night she got back to New York and checked in with a few choice individuals. That’s not how this worked. She’d have been kept awake wanting to know everyone’s status anyway, so it was better to just give in to it. Things hadn’t been in the best position when she’d left for the Savage Land. Reconn in an unknown and dangerous location hadn’t allowed her to think much on what had happened, what might be happening and what could happen, which was probably the point of her being sent. Part of it anyway. She wasn’t stupid by any stretch of the imagination, and things had been rough when she’d left. The mission had given her mind the chance to reset.
She was back now with intel on the Savage Land, what little there was to tell, and she was itching to know what was happening. There was only one source she would trust for complete honesty and disclosure. Not that she didn’t trust the others, but they might not be in the know. Fury was. He was her first stop. And he had coffee for her! She must still be in his good graces. That was a relief she barely admitted to herself.
He had also hinted that he needed her opinion on something. Hill was always willing to help out with that. The fact that it was eluding him told her a few things. It was important. It would probably lead to something more. Fury was either distracted, tired or too close to the subject to be stymied by it. Her curiosity was definitely piqued.
Dressed in plain clothes, Hill arrived at the address he’d given her, she knocked out the deceptively simple code on the door. The remnants of the coffee she’d bought on the street was drained as she waited. The long sleeves were maybe a bit too warm for the weather today, but she wasn’t ready to explain the pretty new scars she had on her left forearm. She didn’t think for a minute that Fury wouldn’t notice, but she hoped maybe he’d take the hint and not ask.
