Whether it's one of the realms of the Burning Hells, The High Heavens, or well even just Sanctuary she's always liked exploring. To discover what lay before her and see the various things that had only been in pages at the Sanctum. It had been both terribly beautiful, and utterly horrendous. But she'd learned, and seen, and in doing so grown past the few things that the Sanctum had put in her mind. Not knowing where you were going, and finding things was actually rather fun. Mind, the demons tended to take a lot of it out because back home you couldn't walk five paces without being beset by something coming at you with the intent of murdering you. At least this place didn't have that. Big plus, so far. Going up had actually been more whimsy then anything. Down was predictable, and it had those noisesome things swarming the streets and until she knew more she wasn't going to go near them. Plus, maybe if she went up she'd get a lookout over this strange new place she'd found herself in. In that, she was right, because after a few flights of stairs she'd opened a door and came onto a place with some grass, and some sort of still water close at hand. There was another area nearby, and when she looked up the tower kept going up. She then decided to explore this a little more. The thought of yet more stairs wasn't an appealing one right now. So instead she walked to the garden, and towards the edge of it near a all that afforded a bit of a view of this city. Which seemed to go on forever, so less points there. At least she'd have plenty to discover. The scrape of metal against another surface brought her out of her train of though and she looked down to her gauntlets. Putting armor on was second nature, no longer something she considered. On Sanctuary, that was normal. Here, less so. Even the colour might have different meanings. In Caldeum, colour meant wealth and the different shades represented those. She'd chosen red to throw people off, and because it had suited the armor. She'd have to figure out if colour's meant different things here, because she stood out just a touch right now. Just another thing to put on her ever growing list of figuring things out. She laughs to that because oh if her teachers could see her now. The always leaping before looking, tempestuous, self proclaimed wizard having not a clue and actually not breaking down doors to get what she needed. They'd never understood really. She'd paused before, when she'd entered Pandemonium and realized just how many souls Malthael was consuming, the whole 'let's kill death thing', and then seeing Isendra's ghost for a final time. The latter had done more then the previous two but even Isendra had pointed out she'd grown a touch more humble. It hadn't sounded like she'd disapproved. She just needed a goal, really. Before it had been 'stop Diablo because the prophecy says you can', then 'stop Malthael' and she'd gone after it with a singular mindset, barely pausing because she knew she could do it. She still knows she can do whatever's needed, it's just the whole 'whatever' that's giving her pause. She had purpose in Sanctuary, right now she has less of that. There's the organizations though. But that's another can of worms because she's not good at following someone else's goals. She's broken laws because it was needed and done what her instinct said would be good ideas and then solved consequences when they popped up. Someone telling her 'do this, but not that' would probably not work very well. And she didn't think it'd be solved like it had back in the Sanctum, just dueling the Archmage so he couldn't stop her from doing what was needed and what was right. She'd only won that because the old man had been predictable, and she'd learned things they all said she shouldn't. Here, the very land was unpredictable. That'd have to change if she was to get anything done. Suddenly, she was reminded of Eirena, and winced. This had to be how her friend must have felt, waking to a world you didn't know, so vastly changed it wasn't even the same anymore. She was going to have to apologize if she saw her friend again, because she'd never understood Eirena's viewpoint. And to remind the Enchantress that even the Nephalem was impressed with how stoic Eirena could be, how she'd never once complained. Li Ming felt she could take a page from that book. She let her hands fall to her sides, and took a breath. First was to get a weapon. She didn't need it, but she wasn't happy that her favorites had been left behind. Plus when her Power ran out, she knew how valuable an extra layer of defense could be. She'd look to see if there were any swords around. Find a way to craft a focus, or find a way to have it crafted for her. Second was to ask around, see if she could find a way to help. On her own terms, if so possible. She could still protect people, it was all she knew how to do. Her magic wasn't meant to sit idle. She was a wizard, not a mage. Third was probably finding a means to fit into everything a bit better. Armor was useful, but wasn't something she needed all the time. And the thought of a somewhat lighter robe was a tempting one. Fourth would be to learn everything she could of this world, and of those she called neighbours. Knowledge was power, and the sooner she knew the sooner she'd be less out of sorts. Things would still be different, but that was normal. Part of that was learning her way around this vast city, but she pushed it back when she was able to get something that stood out a little less. Which came with finding out if her gold had any use here, and if so how long she could make it last. Harder then it sounded because she'd always spend her gold freely, because she could just kill demons and find more of it. Less of that, here. And if her gold had no use, find a way to earn whatever the currency here was and in the same breath find out how it worked. As she formed these small plans, she grew less lost and more sure of herself. No different then defeating Diablo or Malthael, just a bit more complex then 'kill resident asshole'. She wished her companions were here, so she had those at least. But finding people to surround herself with and be able to call friend couldn't be that hard. Well, hopefully. More sure of herself she raised her head and let her fingers curl into her palms. She could do this, would do this. |
