I can't, and won't, speak for the world at large. You have been grievously wronged in your world, and I see little signs that this world will spare you that. It's not right, but this? By demanding that you be separate, by stating that you will take what is yours and crush those who stand in your way? What do you think that's going to bring you? How do you think this is going to affect your goals, or the fact that there are fewer and fewer who will be willing to lend any sympathy to your plights because it looks as though you bring them upon yourself?
I hear your words, and I don't think you're wrong. What it is you claim you want, a better and safer world for all of mutantkind? I could think of nothing more I would like to see be different from where it is we herald. If you continue to stand up as you are, as you've always done, then it will go as it always does. You will rally men, women, and children to your cause. You will threaten the lives of innocents alongside those who have wronged you. There will be a call put forth for people to stand up and rise against you, and you will throw your pawns forward willingly in the blind belief that this will have any other outcome than it always has. You will be beaten, and you will set the rights of mutants back decades in one fell swoop. It'll give them cause, something that, at the moment, they don't have.
Don't misunderstand me Eric. I am not afraid of your revolution. I am not afraid of you, or the methods by which you will undoubtedly seek to pursue. I'm not afraid of the changes you ask for, but, what I am afraid of? The loss of life you will so gallantly claim as worth it. The number of lives we will see broken, the number of rights this place will strip away once you inevitably fail.
You're right that your world has failed you. You're right that the politicians have failed you. You're right that the things you are willing to fight for, are things that should require no conflict at all. I would never dream of telling you anything to the contrary. But, and I'm willing to plead with you here, find another way. I'll work with you. I'll consult with all of those I can to build a plan where we can come to a peaceful term, where we can make certain that the lines of equality are boldly drawn, and I will stand with you to defend those lines. If there's a push, we'll stand our ground. We'll tell the world no, but we're not going to do it behind a closed fist.
And, should you raise that fist? Should you continue to stand up and proclaim that you will take what is yours no matter what any have to say on the matter? You're not looking for equality. You're not looking for a better world. You're looking to stand on high, overlooking the masses, and proclaim yourself right.
And I will be there, as I have always been in the past, to try and show you how wrong you've been.
