My double standards? And what of yours? You see the vim and vigor with which these people attack me, damn my solutions and throw barbs at my attempts to ensure the survival of my species. They say we must work together to develop a solution. That we must come together to find peace. But when we seek their aid in ensuring this peace, they fall silent.
What have they done for us? How many of them have campaigned for the equal treatment of those who were born with powers? How many stood watch outside the hospital while the Butterfly Girl lay dying? How many have inquired as to how they might help in locating and ensuring the safety of the children whose gifts have recently awakened? How many have come to our defense when politicians have proposed legislation to have us rounded up and catalogued?
I did not wake up one day and decide that humanity needed to be eradicated because they were born lesser beings. I came to this understanding after years of watching humanity's numerous attempts to eradicate me. That if humans deny us our rights, if they fail to give us what we need, we can no longer wait for things to change. We can no longer hang our hopes on false promises. The time for respectability politics has passed, Captain. If we want freedom, we must take it. And we will take it by force, if necessary.
Perhaps you should work to correct the numerous sins of your own people -- those who have the institutional power to make change, and who wield it to harm us -- before you criticize the way we respond to our oppression. Perhaps if you had, there would be no need for the inevitable revolution you so fear.
