You misunderstand me, Captain. My people fall under the banner of my protection. Mutants. The children of the atom, of the white event. Those who have suffered in silence long enough, often without the aid of heroes like yourself, and your Avengers. Those who want, need, and deserve the protection that I can offer them. That we can offer them together, as a community, working towards mutual aid. To provide each other with things that no one else has ever seen fit to give us, despite empty claims to the contrary. I have heard tell of your world. You stood firm against the registration of Super Humans, but where were you when they came for mutants? Where were you then, Captain? Where were your Avengers then?
When humanity came to break down our doors and destroy our homes, have you stood beside us as brothers and fought for us? What have you done to quell the death and destruction of my people? When have you considered and incorporated mutants into your plans for the betterment of human kind? When has any human given a single errant thought to the good of my species, my people, and not to themselves? When has humanity done anything but used us, exploited our talents and gifts, stripped us of our dignity and taken what mattered most to us?
I fight for those that no one else will fight for. Humanity has had every advantage, and they chose repeatedly to use those advantages to trample us under their feet. Their interests are no longer of any concern to me.
