"Least you could do?" Samwise repeated, then shook his head. "We did what needed to be done and we were the only ones who really could do it. Nothing so great to be thanked for." He waved his hand dismissfully at the compliment, adjusting the plant just a hair to the right so it had a better angle of the sun.
"Most things do survive better in the sunlight," remarked Sam simply. "Evil can dwell in darkness but it's perhaps the only thing that can." Sam stood back again and admired his handywork of placing the plant, nodding to his satisfaction. "Perfect. That should do."
He turned his attention back to Aragorn at the comment about being the gardener, and his eyes brightened cheerfully. "Oh, I'd love that if I were to be gardener. I do love gardening, really. Nothing would be better than taking care of the grounds like that. I didn't know there were such a position."
