“Very well.” It was Light’s decision, and L knew he had chosen more than to just work for the police. Light had put up no fight concerning their apartment doubling as their work environment. It meant Light understood him well enough to know L would continue to prefer working hidden away, and not with other people. Light was one of L's exceptions.
“You have a way with people. I suspect you will be recruited easily. Come with me,” He uncurled himself slowly, slipping his feet into the shoes that were just beside his chair. “The process will be faster this way. I have already contacted the Chief of Police. He will see you too if you are with me.”
Watari was not around to establish a secure connection with the police force. L would do this another way -- his identity was not so important here. He and Light were already in some sense, celebrities. The thought made him bite his thumb again. It reminded him strongly of Misa Amane. “If we are recognized along the way,” he turned to Light seriously. “I would like to purchase a mask.”
