SWORD had been occupying a great deal of Jean-Luc Picard's time as he'd been working with the intelligence gathered from their trip and reviewing data and information that was available on special persons of interest, possible signs that Earth might be headed for a similar catastrophe, anything that would give them some clue of what the white event had meant for everyone. The fact that he had found so little in the information and felt so uncertain what would be next was not a fact that made for him enjoying time spent doing things other than work. It meant that he'd spent very little time socializing, or even relaxing, except for time spent with Beverly. But tonight, after he'd read 'the white event index' as 'the wheat eventually' he decided that it was time for a break and probably a good strong cup of coffee. Of course Picard had never had much use for a coffee maker, preferring tea for most occasions, so while he had the coffee maker provided by Stark Industries, he had no beans. Well he had no beans that weren't a mere tablespoons of grounds that he dared not consider how long they had been sitting there. The only obvious solution was to go out for coffee. The break, and the walk, would likely be good for him, and so he closed up his files, locked his computer, and made his way to the elevator to head in the direction of the lobby and Brew Ha Ha and hopefully if they still had some this time of night, a strong dark roast. It was a quest that was likely to keep him up half of the night, but on the other hand - there were still things to be studied because they had yet to come to any conclusion. The elevator doors swung open and Picard stepped inside with the one other inhabitant of the elevator, a woman perhaps his own age, with a sober expression on her face. "Good evening," he said companionably checking to see that the lobby button was pushed. |
