Jack had found most of the evening quite entertaining and perhaps a tiny bit embarrassing, at least at first. He hadn't exactly been at his best when he'd met the Doctor and Rose. But there had been funny moments even then... the banana... and certainly later. He'd had to chuckle as he remembered having to put the Hub on lockdown to keep everyone away from the Doctor and his younger self while that all went down and the android Trinny and Susannah had made him laugh.
He hadn't forgotten the bad things that were also going to happen, he'd just... let it slip his mind. He'd winced when he'd been killed by the Daleks on the Gamestation and pressed a kiss to Ianto's temple to soothe him but he'd been too fascinated by what had happened to Rose and to himself, at actually seeing how it happened, not just having a brief explanation from the Doctor. But when they'd gotten to Professor Yana and Chantho and the Master and the Valiant, he'd paled a little and gotten quiet.
He'd never told any of the others what had happened when he'd run off after the Doctor. After he'd gotten back it had been too soon. He'd barely had a chance to clean up and find his coat before he was back and shooting that blowfish and there was John to deal with. There'd never really been time and to be honest, he hadn't wanted to think about it.
He got up and walked over to Ianto, wrapping his arms around the younger man from behind and resting his chin on Ianto's shoulder. "I survived," he said quietly. "You know that. I came back, shot that blowfish and you all got cross with me."
