THANK YOU to everyone who helped in even the smallest way in putting the Variety Show on last night! It was a resounding success, and because of everyone's generosity, we will be able to plan many activities over the next several months, all of which will enrich our children's lives in some way. The Youth Center, while on the outside may seem to be a "glorified babysitting service" (as one gentleman put it while we were soliciting donations), is in reality one of the most important parts of the life of Potts Tower. It is, perhaps, a cliche to say that children are our future. But it is nevertheless true. They literally are the future, and we as adults need to be preparing them as completely as we can.
I've taught many children in my time as a teacher, and I've encountered many bright, hard-working children. But I can say with complete honesty that never in my life have I ever encountered so many with so much potential. And in many cases that potential is already blossoming, as they prove themselves over and over again whenever emergencies erupt in this city. I'm very proud to know them, and you should as well. I'm running the risk of sermonizing, and so I'll stop. But know this: everything we do for them will come back to us tenfold.
Filter to Basic Mathematics student(s), English Composition students, and Women's Studies students
Hello, Students! I thought I would filter you all together. All of my classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the classroom allotted to me by the ESD. My office hours will be 8-10 a.m. on both of those days, 4-6 on Tuesdays, and 4-4:45 on Thursdays. You are always, always, always welcome to stop in my office at the Youth Center, to call or text me ([number]), or to email me (email). I live in apartment 2501 in Potts Tower, but I tend to be in bed by ten o'clock, but if I'm home and you need anything at all, please do no hesitate to get in touch.
Now. Class times. Basic Mathematics meets at 10, and we will be finished by 11:30; Women's Studies meets at 1, and we will be finished by 2:30; English Composition meets at 2:30, and we will be finished by 4. Of course, if you promise to be quiet while my other classes are in session, there should be room enough for you to stay afterwards if you want a quiet place to work on homework.
I look forward to working with each of you over the coming year! It looks to be an exciting one. :)
