Loki/David
Well, whatever else you do or don't believe that I say, you should believe that Billy isn't nearly as dumb as people seem to treat him like he is.
Part of it is that you think his inability to control his powers is a sign of weakness, or ineptitude. But you guys don't understand what it's like to have the kind of power he has. Why he can't always control it. None of you do, not really.
And it's not just that. People treat him like he's foolish. All of you do. You talk about me, about what I did and the fact that I used his power, like he wasn't there. Like it wasn't his choice. Like he doesn't understand what happened, and that's why he's giving me a chance now. Like he gives people chances because he's gullible, or he has a memory problem. But that's misreading the situation. It's mistaking cynicism for intelligence, and compassion for naivety.
Honestly. Just look at Captain America.
He gives people chances because he has compassion, not because he lacks sense. He understands that humans are fallible. That forgiveness isn't something we deserve, but something we need. He understands that all of us have things within us that are good and bad. He understands that you have to give people chances or they can't surprise you. And he understands my motives better than any of you do.
He's intelligent and intuitive and he cares a great deal. And sometimes it gets him into trouble. Sometimes he gets ahead of himself. Sometimes he trusts people more than he should. But it's not because he's stupid.
