Kaidan darted into the alley from the other side, a blue sheen radiating from his skin. He wasn't dressed for combat, still in sneakers and a sweaty t-shirt from the gym, but that was the advantage of biotics. He didn't need a pistol to hold his own, and he'd sprung into action as soon as he'd heard the scream.
The faint biotic glow illuminated the alleyway, revealing the scene: a man with a gun, a primitive handheld; an older woman with a large and expensive-looking handbag; and a younger woman who didn't quite fit in with the expected tableaux. Though it had been months since Kaidan had called the shots, it took only a split second for him to make his assessment and make a decision.
Thrusting his hand forward, he engulfed the handgun into a mass effect field. Blue light surrounded the weapon, freezing it and all its bullets in a sort of stasis. Kaidan pulled his hand back, and the gun floated out of the supposed mugger's grip. Better to take the weapon out of play first.
