Nothing was said, and probably wouldn't be, but she was glad he didn't jump into the deep, emotion-driven conversation right away. It wasn't her style, and probably the reason she lost her hold on Nate -- who wasn't exactly articulate when it came to feelings either.
At the mention of clowns she looked over at Sam instantly, hoping for a moment that he was actually just kidding. Chloe scrunched her nose and made a face at him. "You've got to be joking," she commented, looking at him in disbelief and tilting her head somewhat to the side. "Not you too..." the treasure hunter insisted, cracking an amused smile. She didn't understand Nate's fear and obviously didn't get Sam's either. "Tell me, what is so terrifying about clowns?" she asked as she reached for the bag of open pretzels that had been left nearby to periodically snack on.
"What is it about a rainbow wig and red squishy nose that renders big strong manly-men absolutely catatonic with fear?" Chloe teased. She didn't really care for clowns in particular but she certainly wasn't afraid of them at all. "Traumatizing birthday? Subjected to Poltergeist at an early age? Pied in the face in front of hundreds of people at a circus?"
