Sam nodded. "I had my brother, too. But this place, as similar as it is to my world, it seemed... bigger, when it was unknown. I felt better for having backup." He smiled. "And yeah, she is. Thankfully I haven't needed much help from her, but I know she'd have my back if I needed it."
He took a drink, and then chuckled right along with Luke. "I think she mentioned something about that," he said, and then sobered a little. "Being able to get past that... there's not much else that's harder to get around, is there? It's a pretty decent place to start." He had a vague idea of how Mara felt about Luke, but not the other way around, and he knew things were... complicated, with the added factor of everything that had happened in Mara's timeline here. It wasn't something he wanted to get into the details about, in case he said something wrong, but speaking in generalities seemed safe enough.
