Entry tags:!phone call, pietro maximoff / quicksilver (616), tommy shepherd / speed (616)

phonecall; pietro and tommy
Who: Pietro Maximoff to Tommy Shepherd and Billy Kaplan
When: Monday, August 11
What: Nephews are missing, Uncle Pietro wants to have WORDS! (Basically words that nobody else can really hear because they're talking too fast.)

[He was hardly breathless, but Pietro had made his entire run around the whole damn tower after he tried Billy's place, and then Tommy's. Neither one answered. Neither one had commented in the network to let them know where they were either. And it was probably a lost cause to ask Loki. First his sister goes missing and then the boys do this?!

Pietro only hesitated for a moment (which, let's be real, is probably a very small percentage of a nanosecond), considering that either of them could have been taken back through the Tesseract too, right after their mother. Of course this was some sort of punishment. Something coming back to haunt him after he practically ruined his own daughter's life and broke it off with Crystal, because maybe he just wasn't allowed to have any of his family members near him at all! Pietro pushed back that thought and took out his phone, tapping at Tommy's name in his contacts. When he heard the dial tone cut off as someone answered the phone, his annoyance multiplied. Someone answered it, his assumption that it was Tommy himself and before he could even hear a single word of his, Pietro got started.]

[Diner food was kind of the best kind of food. And with his stomach rumbling it was super easy to focus on stopping and downing a cup of coffee as soon as it was set down in front of him. This was almost like a road trip! Which was totally the kind of thing real brothers did completely disregarding any possible reasoning for it.

The phone had been buzzing a few times throughout the day and Tommy finally decided to pick it up, bobbing back and forth to the old country song playing in the background. His response was full of grace, dignity, and the appropriate gravitas for the situation.]

[That was not helping his annoyance at all. Pietro gritted his teeth but started pacing, looking like a circular blur to anyone walking by his open door. His cat, meanwhile, ignored him.]

[Tommy started fidgeting with the napkin on the table. However what would be several hours of fidgeting for a normal person turned into a shredded napkin in about three seconds for Tommy]

[Pietro paused for an extremely brief moment to wave his hand, in a tossing motion, though the phone stayed in his hand. He just had to hold back the urge of actually throwing it in growing frustration.]

[That moment felt like an eternity to Tommy. Granted to someone else it probably felt like a normal pause in a conversation. He quickly downed another cup of coffee]

[Billy looked at his brother, and then at the phone he was holding in his hand, taking a moment to register what was happening before he stopped mid-texting and set his down on the counter to take over for Tommy in the conversation. He knew exactly who he had to be talking to, no one else could go that fast. After the first few words, Kaplan had just sort of toned out his brother's words, only picking out a few here and there (mostly snark or curses. Mostly because he expected to hear them).]

Hello, this is Billy, who am I speaking to?

[Pietro, obviously still annoyed, hadn't decreased his speaking speed when the conversation was interrupted. He took that time to throw his free hand in the air and wipe his face with it as he continued to pace.]

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

[Billy said in response. He could a few words. "Where, why, leave" and he could have tried to work backwards to figure out the rest, but he wasn't in a good mood. Things were hard, and while he understood that this was probably hard for Pietro too, he just wasn't feeling a lot of empathy. He was sad, he wanted to spend time with his brother and not think about the fact Teddy was gone; the fact Wanda had left.]

[Pietro moved the phone away from his ear and frowned down at it as if it was either one of his headache-inducing nephews. He took a deep breath, and just under that annoyance, panic was starting to bubble up. What was he doing? He had no idea how to do this. He had a daughter and he fucked that up massively, how was he going to manage watching over two teenage boys just as angry at the world? He spoke again, attempting to keep his tone even.]

Where are the two of you? And when should I expect you two back?

That's better.

[But that didn't mean he knew the answer to his Uncle's question. They weren't really going anywhere, they didn't have a set goal or timeframe in mind. They just wanted to get away from the tower and the memories of the people they loved that were gone.

At least, he supposed, at least Teddy wasn't angry at him anymore when he finally left. He'd told him his suspicions about willing him into existence and Altman had come to terms with it. Billy didn't know if he'd do it again, he wasn't sure he'd be able to break the news to Ted a third time and watch him hurt in that way all over again for the first time.

He looked across the table at his brother for guidance as to what to say to Pietro, even though he knew Tommy couldn't hear what his uncle had said, so instead he just shrugged and turned his attention back to the phone call.]

We're not really planning that far ahead. We're going to wherever it is we end up and we'll be back when we're back.

Didyounot--

[Pietro paused again, before he could lose his cool again.]

Did it not cross either of your minds that you ought to have let someone know first? Let me know first? I searched the entire tower for the two of you!

Well, I'm sorry. We just wanted to do our own thing. And we're fine ,we can take care of ourselves.

[Billy shrugged at his brother and picked up his phone to check his most recent text as he tucked Tommy's phone against his shoulder for a moment longer.]

I promise, we'll be fine. If we run into any trouble, it's not like it wouldn't take you more than three minutes to get to wherever it is we are anyway. It's fine. I'm gonna give you back to Tommy. Okay?

[Pietro spoke through clenched teeth.]

The very second. You text me, or call me if something happens.

[Damn teenagers, he thought. Was he this bad? Maybe not, because it wasn't like he had any guardian watching over him, anyway.]
