Rose sat in silence as she listened to the Doctor speak. No words managed to escape her and she was disappointed that she couldn't think of a single word to make him more at ease. Rose had figured that seeing River might have had something to do witch his distraction, but she foolishly didn't consider how the series starting up again would effect him.
Rose should have known. She had seen enough of the show to understand what was happening when her Doctor had regenerated. She knew about the knocks and it was pounding away, inside the Doctor's mind. Her stomach felt uneasy. It was true that she didn't want her Doctor to change. Not that she had any ill feelings towards the next Doctor, but to think of never waking up next to this exact face was painful. The smile would be different, and what if the hand holding felt different?
"Doesn't sound like all right," she whispered. "And you're not daft. I think you've done a fantastic job in appreciating what you have. You've grown so much since we first met. I hope you know, no matter what happens I'm going to be right here. As long as I have a say in the matter, and I'm stubborn enough to get my way."
