"I know we were, Zoe - and I wanted to, by God, I wanted so much to be able to spend more time with you." She hadn't lived that time, true, but she'd read the book until it was falling apart, and she knew with every ounce of her what hshe'd felt. She stood and went after her to cup Zoe's face. "Believe me, there was so much I wanted to share with you, and I'm beyond sorry that I didn't, that I didn't make more of an effort. I wish we'd had more time, I really do."
Brushing at the tears with her thumbs, she stepped closer to her sister, hugging her again. "But this place? It's different. We have a chance here, more of an opportunity to be sisters, despite our duties - and I know you probably hate me for what I did and for not spending time with you, but I hope that we can do things here."
