Shock was on Zoe's face when Sydney admitted she didn't think magic was wrong or evil. She couldn't help it. "It...it isn't all around us..." she denied weakly. Though when she was a young girl she often thought it was before Jared had put a stop to that way of thinking. He had said fairytales and storybooks were frivilous unneeded distractions and had thrown out all of Zoe's princess toys and books.
Her attention was drawn back to her sister though when she saw the silver overlayed with the gold on her lily tattoo. "What...what happened to your tattoo!?" she exclaimed, worry in her voice. It took her a moment to calm down enough to hear the words her sister was saying. She shook her head. "No...that...no...Dad wouldn't let them do that to us, to himself..." But the doubt was clear in her voice. After all, their father didn't even seem to care about Sydney's re-education, just forcing it to the side and saying Sydney didn't matter until she completed re-education. The words though were out before she could even think about stopping them.
