Watching all your family get killed, being told it's your fault, and then, when you finally lose it, getting turned into a vampire so that you'll remain insane for all of eternity.
Being kidnapped as a baby and raised in a hell dimension by a man who claimed to be your father, and who told you that your real father was a soulless killer so you'd be willing to destroy him when you eventually went home.
Dying and going to heaven, finally being able to rest, experiencing peace and contentment -- then being torn away from it and resurrected in your own grave, in a world you no longer feel a part of.
Falling in love and experiencing perfect happiness with another person, then losing your soul because of it and turning into an unrepentant murderer again, getting it back just in time to spend a few centuries in hell. And after you return and recover, you have to leave the person you love so it won't happen again, except it still does, and you can never be certain you aren't going to become an instrument of apocalyptic destruction like all the prophecies claim. But you can't just kill yourself to prevent it, because there are people who need your help, people you owe, and because you made a promise to the son you'll probably never see again.
Should I go on? Because those are just off the top of my head.
