There were plenty of projects that Max had been a part of. Adapting Chekov's technology for the New York power supply had been one of them. But it was Pavel and the reverse engineering of his technology that had gotten all the credit. But Dillon knew, though, that it wouldn't have been possible without him. This new project, however, this electrofield that he was working on? It wouldn't go unignored. It would revolutionize everything, it would make Tony Stark's arc reactor technology obsolete, being just as powerful and able to bond with, strengthen and modernise existing energy systems, converted what already existed into clear energy without the expense of new facilities and expensive new equipment. It was like an electrical skin graft; a solution that would reduce toxic emissions, pollution and end the taxation of natural resources. Dillion figured that his electrofield could also be applied to car engines, jet planes, and anything else that needed any kind of fuel or battery as a self-sustaining solution to power. But no one thought his theory would work. The molecules he was manipulating, when stripped and adapted that much would become too unstable to be harnessed for power, let alone self-sustaining energy. That's why he was forced into working on the project at night, once everyone else had left. That's why he never thought he'd be able to bring his vision to prototype because his team lead would never authorize the uranium he needed for a test. Of course, then Spider-Man had changed everything. When he'd given him that early birthday present: the plutonium from the robbery. It was his and he knew he just knew that Spider-Man had to have had some kind of insight into his work, and that this plutonium held exactly what he needed to make his electrofield a reality. And so he'd waited, perfecting his invention and building the electrofield generator. He'd even painted it red and blue in honour of the Spider-hero who had given him the opportunity to finish his work. And now, tonight, on his birthday, he would finally turn it on and activate the future of energy. The future of power. Then, everyone would know what Spider-man knew already. That he was a somebody. He flipped the switch. It was the last thing he remembered. |
