She felt warm at his compliment, and for some reason Veronica felt it more than usual. Maybe it was because he still felt it, even after all he had experienced. Maybe it was because she wanted it to be true so much that when he said it, her heart was lifted. Either way, she was glowing, which she hadn't expected to happen when she came up to the roof.
His smile lifted her spirits even more. Maybe he WAS feeling better, and she WASN'T useless. She was believing that much more, even if he still seemed so different from the Sam she had known up until now. He might have had to go through some personal hell, but he came out willing and able to love in the end, and that was the important bit.
"How about we order a pizza and we make a night of it? Maybe I'll show you a dance I've been working on. Fair warning, it doesn't involve clothes so...you have to be willing to suffer through that. If you think you can manage."
