Sam didn't just mean in terms of being human. He didn't want to be inhuman or monstrous, of course, but there was a kind of person he wanted to be, a good one, who helped people. But either way, the point was about the same. What she said applied to everything. "You're the most incredible person I've ever met," he said, meaning it. "You're worth everything to me."
The kisses made his palms tingle, and he wrapped his arms around her, burying his fingers into her hair. Warmth was filling him, slowly but surely, and somehow it felt even better for the fact that it seemed such a long time since he'd touched her, or anyone else. He rested his forehead against hers, noses brushing against each other. After savoring the desire for it for a moment, he pressed a light kiss on her mouth.
"I should probably eat something," he said, smiling a little. "I'm going to need my strength back if you're going to give me a workout. But," he added, pressing another kiss to her chin, "I think I can manage to wait until after you work some of your Mars magic."
