"I know you do," she said, closing her eyes. "I just wish I could have ACTUALLY been there to help you, instead of just in spirit." Sometimes it felt so hopeless and useless to be stuck here with no magical powers to heal or fix him. Even if she didn't rationally think that Mara was better for him than she was, she still wished she had the abilities the other woman did, if only to be more evenly matched to help him fight. As much as she was scrappy, resourceful and could hold her own against most human foes, she wasn't as capable as she would have liked to be against supernatural ones. Though she did get a decent punch into Angelus that one time. She smiled faintly at the memory.
She didn't know exactly what was going on inside Sam's head, and that was hard. Usually she had such a good grasp, but she could only start to imagine the horrors he must have faced in the years he'd aged. Her only hope now was just to be with him and try and help him forget until he was back to his old self. She was sure it would happen, wouldn't it?
When his answer came, she turned around, her face serious. "I was thinking...that if I could choose anywhere in the world to be, no matter where it was, I couldn't imagine it without you. Even a fantasy world, even Harry Potter world or the moon or the Restaurant at the End of The Universe, it's always YOU there. You make it special." She returned to him, taking his rough hands and placing them on her cheeks. "The only thing I can be is someone who loves you. And I hope maybe that could start to help you."
