"Why would it do that?" Severus asked, sounding as though he was personally offended. Truth be told, he wasn't sure if he was or not. He still wasn't quite sure whether to believe that he'd been somehow turned from an adult into a child and he also had a sneaking suspicion that Lily wasn't going to be the sort of adult, like his mother, who didn't care what he did or where he went as long as he was home before dark.
"Um, yeah, okay," he said. He certainly wasn't going out in the dressing gown. He got enough catcalling and teasing for his clothes at home from the other kids in the neighbourhood. He wasn't volunteering for more here and now.
"Phone?" He frowned. He knew what phones were. Dad was always grumbling and grouching because they didn't have one at home. Mum always said magic interfered with it too much to have one but she didn't use that much magic around the house. Severus rather thought it was because they couldn't afford it and that Mum preferred to have an argument about magic, which were admittedly bad, than an argument about money and Dad's inability to earn it regularly, which were far, far worse. "Oh, is that what that thing is? A phone? It doesn't look much like a phone. It's on the bedside table. It made some noise this morning but I didn't know what it was so I left it alone."
