Severus gave her a dubious look then frowned. There were potions that could change a person's age. He'd read about them in one of Mum's potion books. "So... like an Aging potion then? Or a De-aging potion?" he asked.
He looked at the wand again, more speculatively this time. If Lily was right - and he had no reason to think she was lying to him - this was his wand. Which would explain why it felt so right. "No, we're going this September," he said absently as he considered the wand. "Mum was going to take me into Diagon Alley next week to buy my school things. I was supposed to ask you whether you wanted to come with us." Mum had... confiscated enough money from Dad over the last year or so to make sure they could buy new things too. He didn't know how she did it but that fact she'd used the word 'confiscated' had sure been interesting. He was just glad he wasn't going to have to wear a second hand uniform.
His eyes narrowed as he mentally went through some of the spells he'd read about and Mum had told him about as Lily fixed tea in the kitchen and he pointed the wand at one of the chairs. "Wingardium Leviosa."
The chair wobbled and for a moment did nothing. Then it slowly rose in the air before thumping down to the ground again. Severus grinned. He knew he'd be able to do magic well.
He took the cup of tea from her, feeling and indeed looking rather smug. That expression faltered a little when she mentioned having a son. That was weird. She'd been his age only yesterday and now she was talking about a son?
"I'm fine," he said, rolling his eyes then sipping at his tea. It was better the stuff they had at home. "Except I don't have anything to wear." He kicked at the trailing edges of the dressing gown he was wearing. "Everything's too big."
