If it had been anyone other than Lily telling him all that, he would have thought they were making fun of him or thinking he must be stupid. Even with it being Lily, he wasn't sure what to make of all of it. And the idea that this was his place? Well, that... actually made him feel a little smugly pleased. He'd certainly done better than his father Spinner's End, hadn't he?
"A portal?" he said with a frown then he shook his head. "I woke up here this morning. I don't remember any portal or anything like that." He held up the wand he'd found that morning, the one that felt so right in his hand. "And I found this under one of the pillows."
He wondered whether he could do magic with it. He felt like he could. Mum was going to take him into Diagon Alley next week to get his school things. He'd asked about getting a wand and how it was done and he'd bet this is what she'd meant by just knowing when you got the right wand.
His frown deepened for a moment as something else she'd said sunk in. "2014? But... I'd be really old. Fifty something. You're not that old."
