For an instant Lily was just grateful that the door was opening because that meant that Severus was here and not gone through the Tesseract, but then her mind instantly jumped to what was wrong that Severus hadn't responded to Harry, or to her own calls or texts. As the door opened, and she didn't see Severus where she was expecting him and then a child's voice - yet a very familiar child's voice - pulled her eyes down, she gaped.
It was Severus, but it wasn't Severus that she was used to here. It was a young Severus - a very young Severus. Maybe even before they went to Hogwarts, in fact, she was fairly certain he was from before they went to Hogwarts. Merlin's beard, this wasn't going to be the conversation she'd been anticipating.
"Sev?" She opened her mouth and then closed it again and then she offered a smile. "Sorry, I - yes, it's Lily. I know I look different and older, but it's still me. Are you all right? Can I come in?"
