This was always an awkward conversation to have. Sam had been through a similar one three times now, with Dean. Except that was easier, a little. For one thing, Dean had always been from his future. Mostly he just had to explain that he knew the future, how he knew it, and what he'd been doing in this world. For Veronica, there was a lot more to cover.
He'd known most of what was coming, but it still took him by surprise, too, when all of it came pouring out. He stayed close to Veronica, warm and solid and (he hoped) reassuring, his hand on hers, but his gaze kept moving over to Lilly. And she looked… dazed.
When she responded, he gave her a small smile and then turned it towards Veronica. Gently squeezing her hand, he said, "Maybe a little slower this time, cricket."
