Coming in for a run, Billy paused on the ground floor of Potts Tower to take look at the new restaurants and offices that were being built on the ground floor. Now that classes were over he'd been thinking about getting a job at one of the new places that were opening up, and he wanted to see if any were already accepting applications.
It was whole he was admiring the sign for Brew Ha Ha that he felt the vibrations. At first, he thought they might be from his headphones, but after shutting off Nicki Minaj, he realised that something else was happening, and happening close.
By the time he'd taken then stairs to the first floor, he started to hear the sounds of glass hitting walls and the groan of structure beams as they were bent and tampered with. It was like the entire building was slowly being stabbed and reacting with a low moan; a cry for help. Kaplan followed the vibrations to the source, room 105, and he didn't have to guess who was staying there.
His first though was to call for help. Tell the Avengers, tell the X-Men -- or Teddy, Tommy and the rest of his team at least -- but he didn't want his grandfather to get in trouble so quickly. And he was sure if he was just feeling destructive or upset, it must be possible to talk him down.
He stood in front of Erik's door and raised both hands, channelling energy as he whispered under his breath: "IwantthedoortoopenIwantthedoortoopen."
Obediently, the door swung open, and immediately Billy threw himself to the ground as a giant cast iron frying pan flew at his head. It hit the wall behind him hard enough to leave a dent.
