That sounded intense, Gwen thought. Though at least Mikasa hadn't really been FORCED to fight, and had a choice even if it wasn't a very good one. "I can only imagine. I mean, I've never had my life directly threatened like that. Well, kind of one time, but that was just some crazy count in my head." It didn't make any more sense when she said it aloud, but it was non the less the truth.
Of course, Mikasa asked about Gideon and Gwen blushed, pushing hair out of her face. "He's the male time traveler. We're from two different lines. He's a complete jerk, always talking down to me one minute and playing with my heart the next. He was snogging me out of the blue when I was suddenly brought here. He's a jerk," she said, with little conviction. She didn't know what Gideon was, not yet. She'd only just met him, really, so why was he already so stuck in her brain? Ugh, awful. She exhaled and went to answer her other question. "Well, she just wanted to protect me. You see, a long time ago a bunch of men predicted the birth dates of every time traveler. My cousin and I were both born the same day so she hoped that by changing my birth date I could have a normal childhood. I don't regret that...my cousin Charlotte never had any fun."
She looked over at Mikasa, and smiled. "Sounds like we both had a pretty weird upbringing," she said, shaking her head. "At least I had a long time living like a normal person."
