The problem was that it didn't sit well with Sam, at all, to simply accept that. He hadn't accepted the fact that his own powers had changed him for good. He hadn't accepted the fact that Dean was going to be a demon for good, or forever under the influence of the Mark. If he had to accept that Sarissa would never be able to do anything about the Mantle, he'd have won one battle-- his own-- and lost another. That just left his brother, and he really didn't want to think about the possibility of losing that one.
"Honestly, you probably have more people than you think," he said. "The people here... the number of them that I've talked to about my life... they've been through a lot of crazy things themselves. Plenty of them have awful possibilities for the future that they're trying to stave off, even if it's nothing to do with this. Even those that don't... I'd bet there are a lot of people who'd understand. And talking to them has really helped me, it could help you, too."
He gave her a slight smile. "And you never know. You might even find someone out there who has the ability to actually do something about the Mantle. There are a lot of powerful people around here."
