"It's on the card, that's good enough," she said, laughing. This felt nice. Normal. Close to safe. They were falling back in old patterns and that was good as far as she could see.
"I'm sure you have. This is a lot to take in, believe me I know. I just know that things don't get any easier with time. Sometimes these kinds of conversations are like pulling off a Band-aid; better to get them over sooner rather than later."
She was glad he agreed to listen. She nodded and sipped her latte, trying to decide how to say the next part.
"I've watched all the-show we were on. And the movie. And read the book. I know what's going to happen in our world. You and I...we don't have it easy. We never do. You told me that we were epic once, and I don't think you're wrong." She looked down at her hands and noticed that they were shaking as she held her mug.
