Logan had his reasons for avoiding her. He was afraid whatever this conversation consisted of would hurt even more. Would wound him. In two weeks he had been hurt enough as is, he didn't want to get hurt again. But the way she spoke, something gave him pause. "Well, if it's important..." maybe a small talk wouldn't help.
And yet her fingers made contact with his arm. He wanted to touch her hand, to hold it like he did in the past but decided against it. Maybe it being in a crowded place wouldn't hurt. "I think that pretty face of yours is a pretty dangerous weapon in and of itself," he teased her, trying to make it lighthearted, but he found it hard to make eye contact with her.
But he followed her as she beckoned him and while part of him wanted to run off. He swallowed his hurt and followed her. "Seems as if everybody likes you here." Then again, Veronica had been a likable person for as long as Logan knew her.
