thread; kenzi malikov and sam winchester
Who: Kenzi Malikov and Sam Winchester
What: He's looking at her Rabbit's Foot.
Where: Tower. Room 107.
When: After this
Rating/Status/Warning: Lowish? | incomplete | Finding out if the rabbit's foot is cursed.

Kenzi wanted so much to believe that this stupid rabbit's foot was nothing more than that. But Sam made a compelling case about it. She decided she did not really want to take a chance that it was normal. It was best to let him look at it. And probably the smartest thing.

She was pacing her room as she waited for him. She picked up her phone and decided to text Dyson while she waited. He would just love to hear how she may have gotten herself into a bit of trouble. Possibly. All because she went to a garage sale thingy.

If she hadn't won every scratch off she bought she could have maybe believed that it was just normal. But Kenzi didn't have that kind of luck.

Sam wanted to believe that the rabbit's foot was nothing more than that, too. He wanted to believe that he was wrong, that random items from his universe weren't just going to show up randomly and wreak havoc, that SHIELD wouldn't just sell an item they knew was dangerous to a refugee.

Shouldn't they know? They had access to everyone's source material, they surely had the ability to discern a dangerous object from his world and know to keep it locked up tight. As soon as that occurred to him, he started to think that maybe he was wrong. Maybe he was overreacting. Maybe some other universe had a rabbit's foot that brought genuine luck without the downside.

Or maybe SHIELD had simply thrown everything that wasn't a person and didn't seem to be for anyone into a box, and left it in storage. And then when they'd ended up running out of space, dumped everything out for sale, regardless of what it was. The trouble was that he could believe that, even if he wanted to believe that they wouldn't sell a cursed object willingly. Or maybe there was still someone on the inside that had done it on purpose, even if the higher-ups weren't aware of it.

Whatever it was, there was the possibility of a girl's life on the line, and Sam couldn't not look into it. Just in case.

He'd been taking a break from studying for his very last exam when he'd seen the post, and he didn't waste time before getting up and heading out of the apartment. He took the elevator down to the first floor, headed over to Kenzi's door, and knocked. "It's me," he called through the door, in case she was wary of letting him in. As she should be, because he'd instructed her not to let anyone near the foot. "It's Sam."

One would think that SHIELD would check each of the items before placing them out to be sold. In fact, Kenzi kind of assumed that was the case. And she still wanted that to be the case. But she wasn't going to shrug off Sam's concern. Not when it could possibly mean death. She was just grateful that there was someone who seemed to be an expert in curses and lucky rabbit's foots.

"Oh thank god!" Kenzi muttered, racing over to the door.

It really had not taken Sam long to get over to her place. Probably even less than the ten minutes he estimated but to Kenzi it had felt longer. All she was doing was pacing around the apartment while she waited. And shooting off texts to Dyson as he responded.

"Come in," she said as she opened the door wide enough to let him in.

Sam was just glad for the fact that she believed him. The rabbit's foot was really lucky, and that might have convinced some people to risk it, or to suspect him of wanting it for himself. He would never have done such a thing, but she didn't know him from Adam (and that was still an awkward phrase for him, no matter how many times he found himself using it). People here tended to be the type to believe in curses and magic and everything else that Sam was accustomed to people not believing him about, though, so he wasn't overly surprised.

"Where is it?" he asked, eager to see it as soon as possible. He reached into his pocket for the handkerchief he'd grabbed, so that he could touch it without transferring the curse to himself.
