The sound of Tara crying gave pause to Willow's steps, she hesitated and almost looked back. The door hadn't closed and the sound of Tara's clothing ruffling against it made Willow's heart's already broken pieces shatter further. She knew that feeling - being left, walked away from. At least Willow wasn't leaving Tara at her lowest most desperate moment. It was a cold thought, but Willow needed to be cold right now or she would give in to those tears and do exactly what Tara seemed to think should be happening in this new world.
Willow squeezed her eyes closed and took in a deep breath only to move again when she knew she would without looking back, "We had everything we were supposed to have; this isn't a second chance for us, it's a second chance for you." Her voice remained flat and emotionless as she continued down the hall until she was gone. She could have her own breakdown in the safety of her own room and not a moment sooner.
